1982

On this day in 1982 Scott and I were married. I will let you do the math and yes we were very young at the time. : ) Whew, does time fly by. Things have certainly changed but things are great in the Kimball household. We actually had a date yesterday evening. We do try to do that at least on our anniversary. The weather got rough but we had a good evening. We had dinner at Crescent City and then saw the X-Files movie. Thanks to Grandma and Papa, the girls had a good evening too. Do you recognize those two from way back? My dad called Scott the Hulk at that time. Today is also my Dad's birthday. Don't you know his celebrating is much better than ours! It is hard to believe that six years have passed since he went to Heaven.

The years have been good and I look forward to those ahead!

Thought I would share just a little about a laid back day. Cousin Madison came home with Evelyn for a sleepover. Evelyn enjoyed that change of pace. Evelyn went for her last swimming lesson this morning (I am very very proud of the progress she made with just a few short lessons) and the rest of the day was all water play. After lunch they played in Evelyn's pool, then with the whale slide, then with the Barbie pool and finally the car wash. Aunt Judy then treated them to snow balls. This was Emelia's first and she certainly enjoyed it. The close up photo of Emelia is after she used too much lip gloss from her birthday stash from cousin Shelby. : ) Girls just wanna have fun.

Well I am late as usual with this update and now my blood pressure is quite high. Scott printed some of Emelia's birthday pictures and then deleted them before saving them on any other source. I wanted to share how excited she was and quickly got into the birthday action. We had a family celebration on Sunday, July 20th. This was Emelia's third birthday and her first with a big celebration. I don't know which face was sweeter, Emelia's with all the excitement or big sister Evelyn's when she was able to give Emelia a gift just from her. Cousin Mason was able to come all the way from Jackson and cousin Shelby all the way from Baton Rouge. Thanks to all of you who made the day a very special one for Emelia. We are in Jackson right now on our first visit at cousin Mason's house. All is well.

Okay I know I have been terrible with posts. Maybe I will do better this coming week. We finally are getting DSL so this slow slow dial up will not be my excuse. I did want to post this because yesterday we took our first youth (somewhat of a) road trip with both girls. They both did very well except the music was once again too loud for Miss Evelyn. She gets really frustrated. I am sure I will laugh about that in the future. We went to MS Youth Night in Jackson. I can't tell you how my heart felt to hear both of our girls sing "Glory to God, Glory to God, Glory to God Forever." Just think, they might have never sung those words. They both love music and I think are going to sing pretty well. There was an overflow crowd at youth night. The speaker was a Chinese guy from California, funny huh. We had 39 on our 41 passenger bus, exciting. This was the end of an entire week of youth functions at different churches in our association. The participation was great. There were close to 200 folks each night. Our church hosted Tuesday night. We will be tired from a late night last night but I have had both girls hanging on my legs saying I love you. You cannot ask for more than that. They are doing better together. We still have a way to go but it is better. Okay, tomorrow you will get a post because it is a special day. Stay tuned.

The Kimballs are doing well but there is certainly no computer time to update you all. We have been home one week today and the adjusting has gone very well. We do have some sibling rivalry but I guess that will be the case for quite a few years. Emelia's adjustment to our time zone has gone much better than with Evelyn. I guess that is due to her being older and we never let her sleep more than a nap at one time on the way home. We had a wonderful welcome at the airport by lots of family and our friends the Smiths. Thank you all for being there for us. Evelyn came home quite sick but has mended. We have enjoyed the 4th weekend. I think the celebrating was more significant after being out of the country for that long. Emelia's temper has calmed somewhat. She does have a little issue at some point during the night. I am sure that is part of the adjusting. It is also amazing that she understands so much we say after such a short period of time. Do continue to pray for the issues at night to pass and for Evelyn to adjust to this big change in her life. It was so good to go to church today. I had Emelia and Evelyn in my Sunday School class and it actually went well. : )
